What is the Bible and Bootcamps App?

“You’re ministry is found where you’ve been broken. Your testimony is found where you’ve been restored.”

Bible and Bootcamps is a Mobile App for Faith and Fitness

Have you ever looked back at where you’ve been and it all of a sudden make sense?

A few years ago, I was lost (Spiritually and Mentally), depressed, anxious, creeping up the scale, and desperate for a way out.  It wasn’t until I completely surrendered all aspects of my life and sought God’s counsel that I found a direction to take.

Then  had a “God idea.” I was scrolling through Facebook and an add for my current college popped up. I never thought of going back to school, but as if I was forcefully pushed. I pressed, “Send me more info.” Within minutes I got a phone call that has literally changed this lost girl to having a clear vision that gets even more high definition by the day. Honestly, if I list the blessings that God has given my family; it is nothing short of amazing and all God’s glory.

Well, years later, with a degree in Fitness and Exercise Science.  Several NASM certifications and pursuing NASM Master Trainer. I have had fantastic opportunities to lead people to God’s kingdom through fitness.

Taking HUGE Risk

I believe so much in this vision God has given me to build a community of women that glorify God by honoring their temple. It’s my “why” in most things that I do.  After  prayers of “How,” “Why,” and “Who.” God led me to a remarkable team to get all of these floods of ideas into a fantastic program that can help women:

  1. Increase their dependence on God through their weight loss journey
  2. Lose weight efficiently and effectively while learning lifestyle habits to help them honor their temple.
  3. Increase energy so they can be the best soldiers for God’s army and gaining confidence to lead people to Christ.

I wasn’t sure how that was going to look, but slowly and methodically just as God has ordained, I have created an effective program for women to use everywhere with a Mobile App.

Bible and Bootcamps App for Every Fitness Level

I wanted to make sure that my program addressed all fitness levels and spiritual needs. If you’re willing to put in the work and show up every day no matter your fitness level. Not an Overnight Success: 7 things I’ve learned on my journey to lose 80 lbs.

I can’t believe that it has been another year. It seems both fast and long. For last years anniversary post check it out here! Two years seem like a long time but looking back it has flown. I started this blog three years ago as a Christian Mom Blog I didn’t know what I was doing then, and I still don’t know what “Christian Mom Blog” means but it has evolved over the last two years it has become a faith and fitness blog.

August 4, 2015

Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us. Isaiah 8:10

Two years today after trying on my own to figure out this daunting weight loss thing joined an online exercise program   It was exactly what I needed to get started a plan and some guidance. She also encouraged her members to take pictures to show progress, and I am grateful for those to look back at and see my progress. I would have never thought to do that. At the time I hated the idea, and the cost of a gym so, at home workouts worked for me. I also said that I would “never work out at a gym again,” haha.

Fast Forward

Fast forward two years and what I thought was going to be a temporary fix; I was going to get real skinny quick. Little did I know not only was I going to “get skinny” but it was going to be a roller coaster of highs and lows expectations and disappointments and an internal journey as well. It hasn’t all been bad.

Blessed through the Journey

This has also given me the opportunity to have fun adventures like working out with celebrity trainers and trying all kinds of new equipment, supplements, and tools.

Never Say Never

I am teaching group fitness classes at 5 am in the morning which I never imagined I would be up and moving at 5 am much less teaching other people too. I told my friend who kept referring me that I would never do group fitness and now that I have I absolutely love it.

A passion ignited

I am 10 weeks away from obtaining my degree in Fitness and Exercise Science, and I am working at an amazing gym (which I also said that I would never do; “work at a gym)”. I am learning so much from a great group of passionate trainers.

FaithFueled is a Lifestyle

Honoring my temple has now become my way of life how I live my life. The choices I make how I plan my day involves my mental space, health, exercise and healthy eating.

More than just a weight loss journey

I started on Periscope and Instagram just sharing about my journey which turned into a 30-day personal prayer challenge that I gave myself to honor my temple.  Those 30 days completely changed my perspective of how I can use God in my life. I had always put boundaries and limits on what I could pray.

Change in Purpose

I didn’t think God cared if I wanted to be skinny or not but through my prayers and devotion my want to be skinny changed for want to be healthy both including spiritually, physically and medically.  It gave me a passion for honoring my temple meaning what I put into it, how I treat it, who I involve in my emotional life and I went to the Bible for the lead in everything.

Stronger Together

I had a relationship with Christ before this journey but the peace I and intimacy that I never knew I craved has been met and continues to grow through this journey. When you turn to God for the little things you begin to turn to Him for everything and having a daily passionate relationship with God has been more fulfilling than being skinny or lifting a weight. The most exciting part of this journey is that I pray every day that I can be a light and bring glory to God through all that I do.

Humbled to be used

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1

God has shown me in the last two year many women and some men that I have inspired through my journey. I am humbled and honored to serve God through fitness. It is amazing that in two years I have been able to change and transform and it is really truly because of God that I am where I am today. So, today I am celebrating the day that literally changed the course of my life. I can honestly say that I would not be where I am today. So, this is my physical change in the last two years Year to date, but I don’t think you can take a picture for the internal change this experience has had on my family and myself.

The things I have learned in two years

  1. Give it to God first don’t try to do it yourself you’ll save time and stress.
  2. Be consistent even if you don’t see progress.
  3. If it isn’t working try something different you don’t have to stick with the thing you started.
  4. Yes, food is important not only what you eat but how and when you eat it!
  5. Discipline is needed and accountability
  6. Regardless what stage you’re at love and appreciate where you are right now while you are working towards what you want and always remember your Why!
  7. The only fix is your mindset that quick and easy doesn’t cut it hard work is worth the reward.

What’s Next?

I now have a new goal to compete in a Fitness competition.  Similar to weight loss, the mental is hard, the workouts are hard, and the food is the worse. I want to quit from day to day, and the highs and lows are the same but I know I have the victory. It will take more time than I want but I will get there just like I got here.

Work in Progress

There is a lot I still have yet to learn and work on if not physically then spiritually and emotionally. By no means am I even finished I like to think of it as just getting started on the next chapter, and I am excited to see what is written. If I could leave anyone with any advice is if you haven’t started, start today because it’s just another step closer to your goals. Remember it takes time so give yourself

time!

How can I help you start your journey or encourage you?

Tackling Food Fixation

I received this book for free in exchange for a review. Receiving the book has no effect on my review.  There are Amazon affiliate links which I do make a commission from. My Full Disclosure Policy

“The Struggle is real,” I know that is a cliche at this pointI read the book, Full, it’s something that continuously looped in my head. I wish I would have found Full months ago, but then again I don’t think I was ready for it. For those of you who have been following my story, you have seen me lose a gross amount of weight in the last two years, but the one thing that although I am growing in daily still have not mastered is my food fixation and motivation.

It’s been almost two years, and I have made some serious lifestyle changes for myself and family. Limiting processed food in my life, introducing a whole nutrient dense diet, consistently exercising weekly but it’s an everyday struggle to live a healthy lifestyle that honors Christ. Just like anything, I am human and not without sin, and I struggle if I don’t lean on Christ for support.

A little bit about my background. I am the oldest of 6 children from a blended family. My parents did the best they could with all of us, but there were some parenting blunders that I wonder if they may have had a lasting effect. For example, my exercise association. My parents didn’t beat or spank us. They would ground us which was only in severe cases, but the there form of punishment was exercise.

Instead of “getting a whooping” we’d have to hold a plank for an unlimited amount of time or run our ¼ mile driveway until my dad (who I think sometimes forgot we were running like maniacs outside) would say “stop.” I know that my parents had the best intentions and wanted to give us consequences for our actions, but I feel that left us children to associate exercise with punishment. I know for years I viewed it as such and there are still some days I procrastinate going to the gym because I just don’t want to “punish” myself that day.

Breaking Up with Old Thoughts

Now, I love the after effects of exercise, the endorphins, the after burn, and the energy BUT I have to pray to get me to the gym. I tell people that my faith fueled my fitness and this is what I mean. I almost always pray before a workout; pray for motivation, safety, energy and desire. I pray for strength to get through that last set and I praise God for a good workout at the end. The end I love it’s the beginning where I struggle.

The same with food. I love food! I love the experience, flavors, I love to indulge, and I still have been known to overindulged if left to my own devices. Similarly, to exercise over the years, I have created an unhealthy association with food and comfort. I also have issues with self-control. I’m one of those “take a little sliver here and another and another. Then, “How did I eat an entire cake.” Yep, I have done that recently. Yep, Miss Health Nut, Fit Girl ate a whole gluten laden cake, and I physically and emotionally felt awful. Physically because I am allergic to wheat and it has an adverse effect when I eat it and emotionally because again I failed to control my desires. I have take orders from a cookie before still after sweating my butt off to get rid of all the extra cookies. So, why? After all, I know, and all I have been through do I still overindulge unhealthily. One slice of cake is excellent and entire cake that I know is going to physically make me ill for the rest of the day is insanity. (Let’s just call it what it is) But it’s my insanity, and my struggle and I bear it daily. That is why I need Jesus.

Stopped Mid Scroll

Scrolling on Instagram one day I found a book that until I picked it up, I didn’t realize how inspiring it was going to before me. I didn’t know that I am not alone until I read the book Full which not only made me realize that thousands of women are suffering daily with food fixation.

The book Full made me realize that I am not insane just deprived. Not deprived of cake or cookies but of the intimate relationship with God that I thought I had. I figured I was fueled by faith. I devote daily; I study the Word, I even can quote the Word from time to time. I often pray so why was I still filling up on a cake?

That’s what Full made me realize and so much more. This book has been pivotal in my faith walk, and as I turned the last page God placed on my heart this must be shared! This book must be applied; this must be your next book study with your FaithFueled Life women. We talk about this regularly in the group the highs and lows of dieting, the triumph, and failures of nutrition and the need and the want for God to be a guide in our life. So, as I put the book down my brain began to a hurricane (I wish I had brainstorms, but they are usually more like hurricanes). The result was our March Full Worship and Workout! Starting Monday, we will be walking together on this journey of Freedom from Food Fixation.
